varicose veins/ BCP

Hi Robyn Yes she can use progesterone concurrently with the bcp. She will not be making any herself, or very little, as all drug based Contraceptives generally stop ovulation. I would hope she considers stopping the pill, there are safer options. I have no studies suggesting progesterone could help varicose veins. It does prevent platelets aggregating, which helps keep blood from thickening. It's also an anti-inflammatory, so might possibly help. I suggest she rubs the cream over the affected area. A lymph drainage massage could possibly help too. Please ask her to read our page on How to use progesterone cream. I recommend 100-200mg/day, more if symptoms are severe. And please ask her to read our page on Oestrogen Dominance too, as this can occur. Take care Wray
