Too much progesterone…how long until symptoms subside?

by H
(Alabama)

I started taking Progesterone oil (Progest E) 3 weeks ago. I felt amazing with skin application and then about a week in decided to try internal. I felt even better!

I think I’ve experimented enough to know that more isn’t always better. Today I have had a mild headache, body soreness, diarrhea and chills.

How can I best support my body to level back out? How long will it take to feel better?

Thanks.

Hi H

Progesterone oil is not the best Delivery Method, please consider using a good quality progesterone cream such as Natpro which is a 3% cream. You don't state how much you are using so it is difficult to comment.

What you are experiencing is Estrogen Dominance symptoms. Between 100-200mg progesterone cream is needed per day, more if symptoms are severe. It can take anything from 2-6 months for one to feel it's benefits provided progesterone is being used correctly. Please read How to use Progesterone Cream for more info on how to use progesterone correctly.

Vitamin D3 is very important as explained many times on this website. What is your level?

Why is Progesterone oil not a good idea? It absorbs through gums and the oil is a high percentage of progesterone. It is not meant to be swallowed and is absorbed. Even so, wouldn't the topical application of the oil be effective?

Hi Anonymous

Topical and injections are the best delivery methods when it comes to progesterone. The various delivery methods are explained on the Delivery Method page on the website, link given below.

Oh thank you. I thought you meant the "oil" itself isn't good. But you meant it not being used as a topical agent is not a good idea. hope I understood correctly.

Hi Anonymous

As explained on the Delivery Method page, often the progesterone used in oils is not mixed correctly whereby crystals form. This is why cream and injections are far better. One also has to take into account the oil used. Always look for organic, always make sure that ingredients no maker what product, has no chemicals and parabens. This is extremely difficult to do given our Environment today.
