Saliva test results came in, please help !

by Indre

3 months ago I was put on 1g estriol cream per day and 50mg progesterone pill (can not tolerate the cream).

My latest saliva results
Estradiol 28.6 pg/ml
Estrone 1.2 pg/ml
Estriol 115.6 pg/ml
Progesterone 166.9 pg/ml
Testosterone 44.3 pg/ml

The only symptom that went away was night sweats, I am still tired, have muscle weakness, cant fall asleep, depressed and etc.

I will be seeing my Md to go over the results next week but I would like to get other opinions. It seems to me that my estradiol, estriol and progesterone is too high...or am I wrong?

Saliva Results...
by: james.woodward@rocketmail.com

Depending on the day of your cycle you did the saliva test results will vary. It is suggested you do the saliva test on the 19th-21st day of your cycle.

Here are typical levels (link):

This is also a good site for more information on Bioidentical Hormones and the dosage / timing during your cycle:

Good luck, and let me know how you do!

Hi Indre In all probability the 'intolerance' to the cream was due to the fact that progesterone is absorbed so well. So the symptoms you suffered from were caused by Oestrogen Dominance. Unfortunately oral progesterone is the least effective Delivery system. 50mg is also far too low a dose if oral is used, it needs to be 300mg/day, see here. It's not so much the amount of progesterone and oestrogen, but the ratio of the two hormones. This is critical, your ratio is only 6:1. From Saliva Tests we run, we've found to feel well the ratio should be 600:1 and over. Progesterone is excellent for muscle weakness, see here. Unfortunately the paper has no abstract, I bought the full paper, but cannot legally display it here. The amount of progesterone used in the study varied between 400-600mg/day. Progesterone also helps with the other issues you have, but a high amount is needed. I recommend 100-200mg/day, but in a form which is absorbed well, ie injections, suppositories or creams. I don't know how old you are, but if you've been given oestriol too, I guess you must be in Menopause, please read through this page we have for more info. You might like to see our page on HRT too. There are nutrients which help depression and sleep, please see our page on Anxiety. Take care Wray

Saliva Results...

Hi James Thanks for your input. I've found the keratin.com site excellent for info. I think Indre must be in menopause as she was given oestriol too. If this is correct, it matters not when her hormones are checked. But if a woman does have a cycle, the test shouldn't be done on days 19-21, but always ±7 days after ovulation or ±7 days before bleeding. Progesterone levels peak during mid-luteal phase. The cycle varies considerably in all women, as the normal cycle can vary from as little as 21 days, to as long as 35 days. 28 days is the average between these two extremes. The normal luteal phase in all women is always 12-14 days before bleeding. Take care Wray
