Progesterone makes me dizzy at higher doses

by Sophie

Hi

I am in perimenopause and was using 100mg progesterone cream at 3% but I felt I needed quite a bit more. So I took a large increase to 300mg. 3 days in and i feel very very dizzy. Almost like motion sickness.

Have I used too much??? Is it likely to pass??? My ears also feel strangely full.

It's awful. It's making me feel sick. I'm quite shocked progesterone can do this.

Hi Sophie

No you haven't used too much. Usually between 100-200mg is needed, more if symptoms are severe. It can take 2-6 months before the body adjusts. 3 days is not long enough. Time and patience is needed. Progesterone therapy affects each of us differently, what suits one, may not suit another.

The dizzy feeling should soon pass but we do have a page on dizziness that may help you, see here.
