Progesterone has improved my life

by Sarah
(Israel / United Kingdom)

I have suffered from painful menstruation and PMS for most of my adult life.

One week before my period, I am on edge, crying, argumentitive and on the verge of agression. I have been unable to function properly before & during my periods.

Utrogestan 100 mg was prescribed for both my problems. One tablet every night for 7 nights, during the week before my period. It has almost got rid of the PMS has made my period lighter with hardly any pain and I am able to get on with life.

I have been informed that the type of capsules I am using are not synthetic and are a natural form of the hormone.

Thank goodness I found these!!

Progesterone has improved my life

Hi Sarah I'm pleased the progesterone is helping you. Yes Utrogestan is progesterone, and not a progestin. Although oral progesterone is the least effective Delivery system. Injections, suppositories or creams are better absorbed. Progesterone should be used from ovulation too, and not only from the peak of your luteal phase. And it should be used a minimum of twice a day too, as levels drop after about 13 hours. But it seems to be helping you which is all that matters. If you would like to read more on progesterone please see our page How to use progesterone. Take care Wray

Hi Sarah

Glad you are feeling better. I have exactly the same problem not with the painful periods but severe PMS. I have had it for years and years. Dr will only offer anti-depressants so I am going to ask her about natural Progesterone again.

Please keep me updated and let me know how you have found it.
