Progesterone for Men and Candida?

by Markus
(Germany)

Can you explain to me how progesterone cream supplementation and candida albicans are connected?

I have some severe candida reactions on phases of somewhat higher estrogen levels, Stress and so on. As i read about progesterone "feeds" candida, i`m a bit scared to use progesterone cream further on.. So is it true, that progesterone is bad for fighting candida overgrowth?

Hi Markus

I am not sure where you are getting your information from, but wherever it is, it is pretty misinformed and is one of many progesterone misconceptions sadly. Progesterone does not feed candida,in fact it feeds off estrogen. Studies have been done on both progesterone and estrogen which show clearly, that progesterone does not cause an overgrowth, it actually protects against it.
