Progesterone and oral health during menopause

by Bev

I am interested in finding out if there are any benefits from progesterone cream for oral health in menopause. The articles I have read mention synthetic progesterone, and of course there are many negative side effects.

Hi Bev

I am assuming you mean oral progesterone when you refer to oral health. All forms of oral progesterone are not the best Delivery Method, as around 96% gets destroyed by the gut and liver. Suppositories and injections are very effective, but progesterone cream is the preferred method.

There is no such thing as synthetic progesterone. Progesterone is natural. The same progesterone that our body produces. Progestin is synthetic and has many negative side effects.

You haven't given your age, but a missed period for 12 months puts you in Menopause. If you are still bleeding or spotting in any way, you would
be in Peri-Menopause.

Usually, between 100-200mg progesterone cream is recommended, using a good organic product such as Natpro, which was formulated over 30 years ago. More may be needed, it depends on how severe the symptoms are. Please read the How to Use Progesterone Cream and Estrogen Dominance pages.

A deficiency in Vitamin D3 will, as mentioned many times on the website, reduce the benefits of progesterone. D3 is connected to every single function cell in our bodies, making it vital. Cofactors are needed.

Take care.
