Mrs Murray

Hello

I am 42 and believe I may have oestrogen dominance.
Easily stressed, poor sleep, PMT, menstruation pain etc.
I took Progest E for a month rubbing a few drops into gums
a few times a day. I then have started only using it when ovulating
until period begins. Is it a problem taking it all the time as
have been told its better to take just for half the cycle but
I feel better taking all the time. Advice very much appreciated.
Also is this type absorbed through the skin or only
sublingually?

Mrs Murray

Hi Mrs Murray I have found using the progesterone daily is a better option if symptoms come back when stopping it. I began doing this when my periods were regular, as the two week break caused them all to come back, not what I wanted! It's easy enough to follow the cycle again if need be. You are now in the beginning stages of Peri-menopause. Cycles do become erratic later in this phase and impossible to follow anyway. The progesterone you're using is a good version, with 1 drop giving you 3mg progesterone. You say you are using it a few times a day, it is best to keep to a regular amount if you can. Increasing and decreasing can cause problems with symptoms. I normally suggest a minimum of 100mg/day which would require 30 drops per day. Twice a day is the minimum it should be used, more frequently, as you're doing, is better. The skin does absorb progesterone very readily, but you might find the oil a bit sticky. This is the vitamin E. So you could add the amount of drops you need to a small amount of skin cream and apply that. Progesterone is excellent for the face, see here. There's more info about progesterone on our page How to use progesterone cream. Take care Wray

Progest e dosage

Interesting I am only using a drop 3 times a day
A sort of a quarter the size of a pea but even finding that amount beneficial. What do you think about reports from people saying taking it just mucks up your hormones. I would have thought it would only be beneficial?

Hi there So you are getting about 10mg/day, which I've usually found only makes matters worse! I'm glad it is helping though, but please watch for Oestrogen Dominance. The web is littered with adverse reports about progesterone, I don't take heed of any of them! You might like to read these success stories instead, see here, here, here and here. Take care Wray

Too little progesterone?
by: Anonymous

Why would that make matters worse (oestrogen dominance) when I am using progesterone oil - at least some! Rather than none. It is only a 28ml bottle and I would have thought a little is better than none to balance things out? look forward to your reply. :-) I have to order from USA.

Too little progesterone?

Hi there That's the whole point, you are using very little, and this can cause oestrogen dominance. So I was cautioning you to watch out for it. You even said "What do you think about reports from people saying taking it just mucks up your hormones. I would have thought it would only be beneficial?" Precisely because they used too little. Take care Wray

Too little oestrogen

Ok, so I get this right. I am using more! But what if you use no progesterone does oestrogen dominance rear its head without ANY progesterone or more so if you don't use enough progesterone? I have only started using it and it concerned me the fact that using too little increases oestrogen when I started using it to reduce oestrogen.! Everyone I know uses it like me so I am realising now it isn't enough?

Too little Progesterone
by: JL

Oh my word! How many times has it been mentioned, not only on this comment but on this entire website that using too little progesterone will cause adverse symptoms i.e. estrogen dominance symptoms?

Why do people not read??? Are they not understanding perhaps? It's all explained, over and over and over! Nothing LESS than 100mg/3ml per day is needed - NOTHING less.

It's becoming boring reading the same thing all the time!

Too little oestrogen

Hi there People normally use progesterone because they have oestrogen dominance. Is this not why you are using it? If you find it's helping you, then stick to the amount you're using. My caution was just that, nothing more. Take care Wray
