Does testosterone convert to estrogen

Hello Beth! Type your title into the google bar on Wray's first page. A lot of comments will come up and Wray has answered them. Wray is totally against testosterone being given and yes, I can tell you from experience it does convert to estrogen in women as well as men. Wray has told me that we have more testosterone in our systems during our cycles than some men do. Excess testosterone is one cause of hair loss. I am 48 and in peri-menopause and had all your symptoms. If you type in my name in the google bar you can read my story. I take a high dose every day. Depending on my symptoms and troubles I may use 1,000 mg a day. I have used it every day for over two years, unless stock supplies run out. It will upset your cycle. But what's more important disrupting your bleed pattern or feeling terrible and losing your sense of sensibility and normalcy? Hang in there and read all you can on Wray's site. There is a wealth of information that will help you get through this. Oh and get your D up....huge factor in everything within your body. God Bless! RJ

Thanks RJ, I'm totally confused & feel so lost in all this hormone therapy ! Something I forgot to mention was dizziness the only thing ghat helps with that IS the testosterone cream since it makes mg head more clear ! BUT I've also read that T can cause hairloss ! I did my ratios estrogen to progesterone & I think it was 600:1 but who knows I'm not a math wizard ! I'm going to read your story for insight ! Everyday I'm obsessed with figuring this out before I go crazy & bald ! Thanks for you post ! Beth

Hello Beth!
It is so frustrating. We go from regular cycles that we are accustom to for years to this mayhem overnight. Scary at first then it becomes a big aggravation. Now, I'm going to pull from memory here...that's a funny thought lol....if I remember correctly Wray had told me that the dizziness I had was caused by excess estrogen that was causing water retention. I do not have dizziness any longer...that was one of the things that went away long time ago. Read as much as you can. This is the best site out there as I have been on so many. Look into all the other supplements too...I'm on a lot of them. I will tell you that once I started using over 500mg a day of the cream my hair loss stopped. Personally, I'd stop the testosterone if I was losing that much hair and increase the progesterone. You may feel a bit funky when you increase but it will subside after a time and you'll begin to notice small changes. Two years for me Beth to finally see some major changes and there are days I still have so many issues. Best of luck in your journey! God Bless! RJ

Does Testosterone Convert to Estrogen

Hi Beth

RJ is correct, no women needs to take extra testosterone and estrogen. There are over 100 estrogen mimics in our environment for a start, see Our Stolen Future. Not only does testosterone cause hair loss, acne etc it can also cause cardiovascular disease in both men and women - see here. Please also read Estrogen Dominance.

As you are in Peri-Menopause it really is best to use progesterone cream every day, with no stopping. Your monthly cycle will become irregular, there is no way around it, it's part of Peri-Menopause. Progesterone will help ease the symptoms and prepare you for Menopause. What progesterone cream are you using and how much? Please make sure that your cream contains the correct amount of progesterone concentration - see here. Oral progesterone is not the best delivery method as 96% gets destroyed by the gut and liver.

You say that your Vitamin D level is low, how low? It should be between 70 - 100ng/mL. A deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone and is connected to every single cell in our bodies making it vital. Assuming you had blood tests taken, your ratio between estrogen and progesterone is 73:1 this is terribly low, it should be 600:1. The Hormone Testing page may help you. Given all of this, you must be feeling terrible!

Hope this helps you.

Does testosterone cream convert to estrogen
by: Beth

Hi Joy , thanks for your comments . I'm using compounded progesterone cream 4 clicks which I believe is 30mgs ! My PA is thinking I need my cortisol levels checked ! I thought my ration was higher than 73:1 didnt really understand how to compute that math equation ? My vit D is 35 which I'm taking mega dose it's actually up from 30 when I was tested in NOV . I'm either dizzy or have racing heart or anxiety ! I keep telling my PA my neurotransmitter feel off cause I have NO zest for life ! Now I'm noticing I'm light sensitive and audio sensitive !! Could this ALL be from to high of cortisol ????? VERY discouraged , co workers are telling me to take Prozac !!! NO WAY !!! Help

Hi Beth

Bingo, there's your problem! Most compounded progesterone creams contain estrogen and testosterone, as mentioned previously, no women needs to take extra. Also 30mg is no where near the amount that you should be using, no wonder you feel like you have been hit by a train!! Nothing less that 100mg/3ml of progesterone should be used and the progesterone concentration needs to be correct - see here. Please read How to use Progesterone Cream as well, it will give you a better understanding of it's use.

Your vitamin D level is way too low, please read the page that I gave you on my previous post.

All your symptoms are caused by excess estrogen and the amount that you are currently using is aggravating things and making you feel terrible.

Why or why do people think that Prozac or any other AD is the answer to everything? It's not and taking Prozac is the worst thing that you could possibly do, just read the side effects! Do you really want to take it? Not good advice from your co-workers I am afraid.

Hello Joy,
I just wanted to add with the Prozac...my cousin was prescribed Prozac, I would say a month or so back...she committed suicide last week. Folks need to be so aware of the side effects of those types of drugs. Reading more and more about people who do these mass murders and/or commit suicide are all on anti-depressants. My son, long time ago, was put on Wellbuterin for depression. Made him so much worse that it was scary...he was not our son any longer. We slowly took him off and began supplementing with all the B vitamins. They were the lifesaver! God Bless! RJ

Does testosterone convert to estrogen
by: BETH

Hi Joy, estrogen & testosterone isn't compounded into my progesterone cream however every time I apply the progesterone cream I get heart palpitations & anxiety ! For the past week every morning after being up for 15 mins I feel hypoglycemic & jittery ! It got so bad by the time I got work I was in tears not knowing what was happening ! I called my PA, she said I need to stay on a steady dosage & never once said to apply 2xs a day ! ( Which i beleuve could now be the key ) shes not very good at explaining! She also mentioned possibly high cortisol in the AM ! I'm extremely sensitive to medication so I'm thinking I'm going to start slow & build up to larger dosage ! Is compounded progesterone stronger than over the counter ? I'm now getting confused about compounded vs OTC? Thanks Beth

Hi RJ

I am so sorry and sad to hear about your cousin, so tragic! I think that people need to start asking their doctors what the sides effects are on any drug, before just popping them into the mouth.

Taking a drug because it was suggested by a friend is also a very dangerous thing as in Beth's work colleagues. If you ask doctors if they would take the drugs they prescribe, and if they are honest enough, guess what their answer will be?

Scary!

Hi Beth

If the compounded cream that you are using does not contain testosterone and estrogen, then you are not using enough for your symptoms and the cream that you are using is not the correct progesterone concentration. I have explained this already in my post above.

Unless you use progesterone correctly and get your vitamin D level up, you will battle!

Take care.
