Continous bleeding after miscarriage

by Faye
(South Africa )

My first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage. After waiting for over a month for my body to miscarry naturally, I resorted to medical management with cytotec. The miscarriage was incomplete at my first follow up appointment and I was given another round of cytotec. At the follow up ultrasound I was given the all clear.

It's been almost 2months since the miscarriage and I have been bleeding continuously. Mostly light bleeding but there have been a few days of heavy bleeding too. My gynae says this is hormonal and wants to put me on birth control pills to regulate my cycle.

How can I use progesterone cream to balance my cycle naturally and stop the continuous bleeding?

Hi Faye

Your body is still adjusting after your Miscarriage. Please try to avoid taking the pill as Contraceptives have a potential to cause harm.

If you do decide to use progesterone please use it every it every day with no breaks, between 100-200mg per day is needed. Once your bleeding stops and your cycle returns to normal, use the cream by following your cycle which is your luteal phase. Please read the How to use Progesterone Cream and Pregnancy pages.
