Candida and Hormones.

by Penelope
(London England)

I am a 43 year old woman. When I was 29 I suddenly woke up with extremely puffy eyes heavy breast & stomach cramps.I also discovered I had an allergic reaction to wheat, dairy & citrus fruits. Anything I ate came out like mashed potatoes. I had GP tests & stool analysis with negative results. So I self diagnosed as Candida. I also suspected a hormone imbalance but GP test showed normal. I had a polycystic ovary at the time but it disappeared. This went on for 13 years, eliminating foods which triggered the symptoms but they remained. In 2012 I went to see a Nutritionist & had a positive test for Candida. After taking the tablets for this, my symptoms remained; puffy eyes ect. This really confused me. Although my hormone test was normal I did not believe this to be true because a week before my periods, my symptoms are aggressive. My eyelids are so full that it alters my appearance along with other symptoms. I know I have an imbalance hormone. This week I came across this site & Lord it is a God send, because I had no idea that Candida & hormone balance can be related. I know I must have a hormonal imbalance low progesterone because I am experiencing the symptoms you display. Even though I am not tested for progesterone levels I will still be ordering the Natpro cream because I am desperate after 13 years of hell. I don't know what else to do and this site seems safe & true enough for me.

Candida and Hormones
by: Wray

Hi Penelope I'm sorry you've been given such a run around, unfortunately it's all too normal to experience this. There's little point in testing 'hormones', if they didn't test for progesterone, testosterone too. It's the ratio which is all important, not the level. You might like to see the results of the Saliva Tests we run. You'll notice the ratios are all over 600:1, that's progesterone to oestrogen. Oestrogen does exacerbate Candida. It also increases the glycogen content of the vagina on which the fungi live. There are papers about this on the candida page. Incidentally the best cure for candida is MCT oil, which is an extract of coconut oil. It's INCI name is caprylic/capric acid, it's the caprylic acid which kills the candida. I use the oil daily for all my cooking, on salads and veggies too. Although you could have candida, you certainly have high oestrogen. This is responsible for the puffy eyes, it causes water retention, see here. It's also responsible for your aggressive symptoms prior to bleeding. So too is testosterone, see here. If bound to SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) testosterone becomes inactive, progesterone raises levels of SHBG, so preventing the rise of free testosterone and severe PMS. Please have a vitamin D test done, most people in the UK have low levels. It's the cause of many problems, plus a lack reduces the benefits of progesterone. Allergies can appear or worsen if the level is too low, it's vital for a normal gut. Birmingham Hospital send out test kits for £25 and the results back by email. Please ignore their 'adequate' level which follows NHS recommendations, it's far too low. Blood levels should be 175-250nmol/L. These are excellent sites to look through Vitamin D Council and GrassrootsHealth. Please get in touch with Julienne via her website here. She's very understanding, having been through hell too. It was her shoulder I'd cry on when I was going through it! She can also advise you on both the progesterone, which she stocks, and vitamin D. Please don't forget to look through the Oestrogen Dominance page. Let me know how you get on, and bless you for the kind words! Take care Wray

Natpro

Hello Wray

Thank you very much for your valuable advice. It was very nice of you to reply personally.
I will contact Julienne about the vitamin D and progesterone she stocks, so shall I not bother ordering the Natpro again?

Best Regards

Penelope.

Natpro
by: Wray

Hi Penelope I see you did contact her! That was very quick, she skyped me last night about it. I'd forgotten to give her the link on this site so she could see my reply to you. She has it now and agreed with what I'd said. The first thing above all else is you need a vitamin D test done, we both suspect it's low. She can help you with that too if needed. She stocks the Natpro, so you'll get it far quicker from her than the site. I'll keep in touch with her about your problems, hopefully between the two of us we'll help you get better. But please bear in mind it's not a quick fix, the natural route never is. But at least it's safe and will eventually help. Take care Wray

Hello joy
by: Penelope

Yes Joy it is I..

I spoke to you today and you really made me smile.

About the Natpro, I did say I could not find it on Julienne's site, but I did find it. I would like to order from her but wanted to see if I could order it online from here the UK. Which was why I contacted you again to see if you could direct me to a UK site where they stock it. But I'm not sure if they do as I have not found one yet.
I did receive my reply from Julienne and will be doing a vitamin D test.

You made my day yesterday. Will keep you posted on how I get on..

You made my day too!!
by: Joy

Hi Penelope

HALLELUJAH!! We have all met now and you also made my day!!! I thought I was going mad with all the incorrect email addresses and when you left the 'e' off your own name, well that finished me, I laughed so much!! Thanks for that. Glad Jules made contact, she will help you greatly.

Regarding ordering from a UK site or any site for that matter, all orders are dispatched from our Michigan fulfilment house in the USA. It really is best to get your stock from Jules, it will be quicker and cheaper postage wise

You know where we all are now, so do get hold of any of us if you are needing help and guidance while using Natpro.

Take care.
xx
