Can progesterone help men with premature ejaculation?

Hi Wray, I was wondering if you could please give me some info about men and premature ejaculation. Would progesterone cream help?

I've read on your website about a woman and how she was asking if the cream would help her become more interested in sex again like when she was younger as she in now in menopause. If the cream would help men how much, what doseage and how often to be applied?

You've been an absolute comfort with other questions I've had for you in other areas and I really trust what you have to share. Thanks heaps and hugs.

Hi Susan Bless you for the kind words. Progesterone certainly helps libido in both men and women, I have no idea if it would help premature ejaculation, but it's worth a try. You might be interested in these papers here, here, here, here, here and here. Another thing you could look into is lack of dopamine, this causes a lack of sexual desire, see here, here, here, here, here and here. Dopamine drops with stress, plus excess oestrogen and prolactin suppress it. Progesterone is helpful for reducing the stress response, see here, and here. Plus it suppresses both oestrogen and dopamine. If dopamine is low, then taking the precursor amino acid tyrosine would be a good idea. There's more info on how to take it on our Anxiety page. Hi there Are you using sufficient progesterone? I've found 100-200mg/day is the amount needed, sometimes more if symptoms are severe. It can take time to help, often up to six months. We do have more info on our page How to use progesterone cream. It could be your oestrogen or prolactin is too high, please read those papers I gave Susan. Take care Wray

Hi there I wouldn't recommend Zoloft, it is addictive and un-natural! Being an anti-depressant it would appear you maybe have sub-clinical depression, which is why it worked. Depression does reduce libido. Please try progesterone, it will help the depression and the libido. Take care Wray
