I have had two miscarriages

by Lyndsey
(Chattanooga)

I have had two miscarriages within a year and doctors said they were spontaneous. I am now 6 weeks pregnant, my progesterone is low and the doctor put me on the pills. I have had two succesful pregnancies with two healthy babies.

With the first miscarriage they did a d&c. I am so scared I am going to have a third miscarriage. I want to know what the chances are to maintain this pregnancy taking the progesterone pills.

I have had two miscarriages

Hi Lindsey. I would like to know what dose the pills are and I do hope they are progesterone. Normally injections or suppositories are given for recurrent miscarriages, as oral progesterone is mostly destroyed in the gut and liver.

The dose has to be high too, at least 100mg/day, although 200mg/day is a better choice, as it leaves nothing to chance. I'm currently helping a woman with recurrent miscarriages and so far all is well at 16 weeks. She's using ±260mg/day, anything less and she had spotting and nausea. Take care Wray

The pills

Wray, I got your comment and I am on 200mg and I take them twice a day and I haven't even really talked to my doctor about it. The only reason I found out my level was low was because I called the office because I thought I had an infection. I go Wednesday to hear the heartbeat and I am real scared there will not be one. Should I be?
