I got dizzy after a plane ride.

by Kim Milano
(Gonzales, La.)

Upon landing from a plane flight in Atlanta, I felt a floating sensation. I knew it was "on". The last time I felt the floating sensation was after my cruise in 2007. The floating sensation lasted for three months then.

However, I have been dizzy for many years upon rising from a stooping position, or scanning the horizon when walking. Never knowing what "that" was. Dr. Soileau believes I have been having my problem since 1993.

Two months ago, I was diagnosed with crystals in the left ear, and a perilymphatic fistula in the right ear, by an EAR and BALANCE specialist, Dr. Soileau in Baton Rouge, La. At least I have a proper diagnosis and can work with it.

I'm on Diazide (diuretic) every other day. When premenstrual time comes I have to take it daily. I'm tracking my menstrual cycle now, and I'm beginning to see how fluid retention makes the symptoms worse during PMS.I'm on a low salt diet. Drink plenty water. He placed me in his rotational chair that "adjusts" the crystals in the inner ear that were misplaced. I'm waiting to see what he will decide to do with the perilymphatic fistula. We are hoping it will heal on it's own. If it does not heal, I will need surgery.

Many folks like me live, tolerate, dizziness for many years, not knowing the true source. I have prayed many years, having been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I knew in my heart something else was going on. Thank God Dr. Soileau has taken the TIME needed to figure this out.

I am a nurse. I love my job. And I fear not being able to do that kind of work anymore. But my faith will lead me back! Good luck to anyone out there with the dizzies.

Hi Kim Thanks for sharing your story. Dizziness is very difficult to deal with, I had it before I discovered progesterone. Mine was simply caused by excess water retention, I was going through Peri-menopause at the time, when progesterone levels are dropping. You might consider using it, as it's an excellent diuretic. So good in fact it's given to brain trauma victims to prevent the oedema and inflammation that occurs after the injury. We do have more info on our page How to use progesterone cream. If you have fibro, please have a vitamin D test done. Often a lack of this nutrient is the cause. For more info see the Vitamin D Council, GrassrootsHealth and Birmingham Hospital websites. Take care Wray

My Vit D levels are normal. I do like the idea of this progesterone therapy. What are the risks for getting breast cancer from this? Or, is it estrogen that increases those chances?

Hi Kim I'm so sorry I missed your post, I've no idea why. We do have a page on Cancer and progesterone. It's been used successfully against many. And it is oestrogen which increases the chances of it, see our page on HRT. For more info please see our page How to use progesterone cream. Take care Wray

You say your vitamin D levels are normal, but blood levels should be 70-100ng/ml or 175-250nmol/L and not the 30ng/ml or 75nmol/L most labs and doctors regard as adequate. And the minimum daily dose should be 5000iu's per day, although the latest research indicates it should be 10,000iu's per day, see here. Take care Wray
