I am 47 years old and started the menopause around age 40. I did not hear about progesterone cream until a couple of years ago. It works well for me generally, but my vagina has become very dry and itchy and when I recently went for a smear test my Dr gave me an oestrogen pessary to use for 2 months. I have done this but am not happy to do it in the future. It does seem to have alleviated the symptoms somewhat but I thought that this was what the progesterone could do.
Should I apply the progesterone around the vagina area as I was advised to put it on my 'middle areas' such as stomach and breasts as I have got a problem with weight gain in this area. I seem to need more than the pea sized amount recommended but I wondered what is the effect of me using progesterone cream with the oestrogen pessary as well?
I have gained almost 14 pounds during the last 2 years, all around my middle area and feel very depressed about this. I go to the gym twice a week and also walk the dog and am fairly active during my daily life.
Hope you can help. Thanks, Alison
