Progesterone, Broken Capillaries and Veinous Insufficiency

by Jane

I have read conflicting information about the effect of progesterone on vascular tone. My impression is that it is a vasodilator, with some benefits to vascular tone, however, what effect does progesterone have on capillaries, and does it cause damaged capillaries or spider veins if venous insufficiency is present?

Progesterone, Broken Capillaries and Veinous Insufficiency

Hi Jane

Progesterone is a vasodilator. I can find no evidence that progesterone causes capillaries. I have been using progesterone for 14/15 years now and I have no problems at all.
