Multiple miscarriage after 35

by Shannon
(Florida)

Hi
I am 39 years old, my husband and I are pregnant now and 5 1/2 months along. We suffered 1 first tri miscarriage after two healthy pregnancies followed by 2 second trimester losses which were devastating. With no actual known causes my OB decided to start me on 100 mg progesterone suppositories twice per day and so far so great :) we have decided to continue throughout the entire pregnancy and my OB agrees.
I do have a question re breastfeeding and the progesterone and was wondering if I start tapering off prior to delivery when would be the best time? I have read progesterone will effect my ability to successfully breastfeed.
Thank you so very much for any advice you are able to offer and God bless!!

Hi Shannon You might like to read the two pages we have on Pregnancy. The other is here. Dr Dalton always found progesterone helped breastfeeding. There's no need to taper off prior to delivery, no amount of supplementary progesterone will stop labour, see here. You might like to read why labour starts here and here. Take care Wray
