What age should women start PT? Is 17 too young?
by: Lisa

Dear Wray,
This is my first year on progesterone cream. I can't say I noticed a difference until just recently, I switched from putting it on the inside of my thighs (as told to do), to putting it on the insides of my arms. I feel more energy, happy.

My daughters 17 and 22 have a lot of PMS - cramps, bloating, crabby, acne, and the 17 insomnia, and a lot of body hair - although could it be her hispanic ethnicity? Are they too young to start progesterone?

Hi Lisa There's no right or wrong way to use progesterone or right or wrong place to apply it. At the moment I use it all over my body due to added stress, I'm using about 500mg/day. Judging by where you were told to put it you must be using 20-40mg/day, to my mind far too little and would account for you not noticing a difference. There's more info on our page How to use Progesterone Cream. Neither of your daughters are too young, I put mine on it at age 14, and she's been on it ever since, and is now 33. It sounds as if your 17 yr old daughter could possibly have PCOS, she does have a few symptoms, there are more on the page to check against. It's caused by oxidative stress so large amounts of antioxidants are needed. Progesterone is also needed. Take care Wray
