I have a pituitary microadenoma. The neurologist is sure it is caused by my progesterone. I have gone off HRT for six months and have been miserable. I recently went back on and feel great. Help?
Hi Linda I'm not aware of any natural remedy for reducing or getting rid of a pituitary tumour. But there are some which reduce Prolactin levels. Oestrogen increases mitotic and secretory activity of lactotrophs or prolactin cells, which increases prolactin levels, see here.Contraceptives and HRT increase levels, as do the oestrogen mimics found in our food, water, air and skin care, particularly sunscreens. As does stress, a lack of protein in the diet, a lack of tyrosine, a lack of progesterone. You might like to read these few papers on how oestrogen mimics can attenuate the activity of endogenous oestrogen in the pituitary. Giving a clue that it's not progesterone but oestrogen which affects the pituitary. This paper here says "Estradiol and all xenoestrogen compounds induced cell proliferation individually" This is another here. For more info on progesterone please see our pages on Peri-menopause and Menopause. Take care Wray
Hi, I would like to get some guidance and help from any fellow friends who have used progesterone in postpartum to prevent PPD and help balance hormones.
