Does using Natpro stop ovulation?

by Bonnie
(Canada)

Hi Wray, what amount of progesterone would prevent ovulation? I'm using about a teaspoon a day and want to use it through my period and am wondering if this amount will prevent ovulation.

Also, it's probably not a good idea to put it in the vagina during a period right?

Does using Natpro stop ovulation?

Hi Bonnie Generally 200mg/day will stop ovulation. But having said that, stress drops progesterone levels sharply, so more will be needed if you're wanting to use it as a contraceptive. You might like to read this page we have here. If you're using it to prevent cramps I suggest using between 100-200mg/day, sometimes more is needed if they are severe. It's best to rub it directly on your tummy and back area. I don't see a problem with using the progesterone in your vagina when bleeding. It's absorbed rapidly. So if using a tampon, allow a few minutes to elapse before inserting it. Take care Wray
