2 periods in one month?!

by Shay

I'm recovering from adrenal fatigue, a pretty severe case of it. I've been using pregnelone, Standard Process, Vit. C and B complex, and tried licorice (had to stop bc it made me so tired) as well. I'm also hypothyroid, so I am taking T3 for that.

My exhaustion seems to have let up a bit. I've been on the preg. for about 3-4 weeks, and just this morning, started my 2nd period this month. I am freaking out. I've NEVER had this happen before. I'm only 20, and not on any birth control bc I DIDN'T want to mess up my hormones!!!

Please help, I'm very scared. I don't know why my body is doing this?!
I did use the progesterone cream before and although it helped me sleep better (wake up less) when I was on it, didn't seem to do much else for me. I haven't used it in about a month, and it's pricey so I'd rather not go back on it. The preg. was supposed to raise progest. levels anyway...
Please help.

2 periods in one month?!

Hi Shay I'm happy you've stopped the bc, for more info please see our page on Contraceptives. A far safer alternative is the copper T IUD, this leaks no synthetic drug into your system, and is as effective as the bc for contraception. I believe it's progesterone you need and not pregnenolone. Pregnenolone is a prohormone, the precursor to progesterone and DHEA, which in turn are converted into aldosterone, cortisol, the androgens, and oestrogens. You have no way of telling which route it will take. You say you have adrenal stress, well the adrenals have to first make progesterone from pregnenolone, which they then convert into cortisol our stress hormone. By using supplemental progesterone it relieves the adrenals of having to make it. I can only imagine it didn't help much because you were using too low an amount. It should be between 100-200mg per day, anything less and it will either keep stimulating the oestrogen receptors, which could make you feel worse or take a long time to have any affect. For more info please see our page on How to use progesterone cream. Progesterone does not have to be pricey, please see here. If you do consider using it again, please see this page on Oestrogen Dominance first. This can occur and is disconcerting if it does. Take care Wray
