Progesterone

by Kari
(Texas)

I have been using Prog for 3 weeks. I am late for my cycle. Took a test and do not register an HCG high enough to relate to pregnancy. How do I proceed from here?

We are willing to continue till I would miss a second cycle to err on the side of caution. My temps are up, but I related that to the progesterone that I'm on. Some friends who have 6+ children said that they have differing levels of HCG and some don't register as prego until weeks after their missed cycle. We have been trying since my son was 8 months old, and that was 4.5 years ago. I am new to the progesterone thing and so am uncertain of the next step. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Progesterone

Hi Kari Progesterone can upset the cycle when first using it, it's nothing to worry about. Are you using enough? I recommend 100-200mg/day, dependant on symptoms. We do have more info on our page How to use progesterone cream. For an accurate reading, hCG should be done in a lab, home tests are not sensitive enough in the early days. Temps do increase with progesterone, as they do when pregnant. It's impossible to tell at this stage whether you are or not. I suggest all you can do at this point is to wait till your period arrives, if it does. I take it you have stopped using the progesterone? As you're wanting to fall pregnant, please look at our page on Pregnancy. It could also be your vitamin D is too low, this is critical for ovulation to take place. It's also critical for a growing foetus, see here, here, here, here and here. For more info see the Vitamin D council and GrassrootsHealth websites. This is an excellent video to watch too, see here. Another nutrient vital for the foetus is taurine, please consider taking it, see here, here and here. Take care Wray
