Will progesterone before my LH surge suppress ovulation?

by Liz B
(Ohio)

Hi Wray! I was wondering if taking progesterone suppositories before my LH surge will affect ovulation. I've been taking them day 14 through my luteal phase, but I don't get my LH surge until day 15 typically. What I've found the past two months is that it seems taking the progesterone actually helps my LH surge be stronger. Like is when I take the progesterone, it gets very dark on my opk the very next day.

I did read some warnings though that taking it before ovulation can suppress it from happening, so I wanted to check with you.

Also, will suppositories affect the sperms ability to reach the egg? It leaves a thick filmy residue.

Thanks!
