Want to use just progesterone cream

I posted before about using the Estring. I am 60 years old and had vaginal dryness, vaginal itching, night sweats, facial hair, thinning hair on head and major sleep problems.

My gyn prescibed the Estring without checking any hormone levels. It did not help with any of my symptoms so I got rid of it. I had been using a progesterone cream every night when I had the Estring. I am very frustrated because I can't get one of my doctors to really help me. I no longer have night sweats and my facial hair is almost gone, still have some vaginal itching, thinning hair and sleep problems.

I want to continue to use the progesterone cream everyday. I use ProHelp from Better Health Naturally. I use 1/4 tp 1/2 teaspoon a day. I am wondering if I should use more. I am also going to order the Natpro after I finish with the cream I have now. I just want my life back. I have been miserable for the past 4 years. My doctor thinks I am low on estrogen and doesn't think I need progesterone at all. I think the progesterone cream has helped me some, it might be that I am not using enough or the right kind. Any suggestions?

I had similar problems plus uterine polyps. My GYN prescribed 100 mg. of natural micronized progesterone cream daily and the polys went away in 4 months and I feel great. It took a while for all the symptoms to go away. I do NOT take any estriol or any other kind of estrogen as my estrogen levels were high for my age, 67, and at our age we are usually getting the estrogen from other outside sources in food, chemicals etc. Stick with the progesterone only until you have your levels checked!!

Hi there Unfortunately most doctors think we only need oestrogen when in Menopause. Ignoring the fact that progesterone has also dropped. Plus oestrogen is always made by our fat cells, however few or many we might have. We never stop making it. I don't know how much progesterone you are currently using, but I recommend 100-200mg/day dependant on symptoms. Before you increase the amount please read our page on Oestrogen Dominance as this can occur. I've found progesterone very soothing in the vagina, as it can help dryness and inflammation. It also helps sleep too, see here. Progesterone is also excellent for the skin too, see here. Whereas oestrogen is not, see here and here. Please consider having a vitamin D test done, most of us have too low a level, which reduces the benefits of progesterone. A lack of it also impairs sleep. For more info see the Vitamin D council and GrassrootsHealth websites. This is an excellent video to watch too, see here. Take care Wray
