Text Books Cycles and Then Nothing!

by Stacy
(Colorado, USA)

My cycles have been the classic 28 days since shortly after the birth of my daughter 13 years ago. Suddenly, this month I have had the usual symptoms of cramps, breast tenderness, bloating, moodiness, however my period hasn't yet come. I am 9 days late as of today and don't know what to make of it (I am 100% positive I am NOT pregnant). I am 47 years old and menopause if absolutely a possibility but it seems so out of the blue. I thought there were signs leading up to menopause such as irregularity, longer or shorter cycles, etc. I realize that the absence of my period could definitely constitute irregularity but now I am confused on what I should expect next. I am getting ready to go on a lengthy vacation and with my periods always being so predictable, this is unnerving! Should I still expect to get a period at some point this cycle since I do have symptoms? On a side note, and I'm note sure if this has any relevance, but my temperature first thing upon waking is 98.4-98.6 (which if I recall correctly would indicate that I DID ovulate?? It's been a long time since I have charted temps so maybe I have that all wrong...

Thanks for any insight you can provide :)

Hi Stacy

Oh yes all normal! A missed period for 12 months normally puts one in Menopause, you are in Peri-Menopause and trust me, this will lead you into Menopause. It can be a difficult time for most women, but it need not be with the help of progesterone. This is the natural aging process of a females body, vacation or no vacation, get ready for a bumpy ride. All your symptoms point to Estrogen Dominance. Please read the How to use Progesterone Cream page.

Do you know what your Vitamin D3 level is, a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone and is vital for better health.

Hope this helps.

Finally Arrived!
by: Stacy

My period finally arrived on day 39 and should be over well before vacation (great news)! I did just have my Vit D checked and it was a whopping 107! I had been taking 10,000mg per day and brought it up from 49.7 to 107 in about 2 months time (also great news). My doctor told me I could back off on the amount or skip a day if I'd like but he wasn't too concerned because he said it wasn't a toxic level. I will read up more on what to expect during these peri-menopause years and how progesterone can help alleviate some of the symptoms.

Thank you for your help and making me feel 'normal' :)

Hi Stacy

I am happy to hear this and thank you for your kind words. Please do not back off taking Vitamin D3, your level is at a good now, you need to maintain it, by backing off you will cause the level to drop again. Please reduced down to 5 000iu's per day and stay on that amount, increase if stressed. So wonderful to hear that a doctor is not disputing that level and that it is not toxic. My level when last I had it tested was 125 and I maintain it there by taking 5 000iu's per day.
