I am 63. Had a hysterectomy in 1989 (still have ovaries). For the past 5 years, I have consistently gained weight. I am at my wits end! Nothing I do seems to help. Will progesterone help me?
Susi~ I highly recommend you get Dr. Michael Platt's book, "The Miracle of Bioidentical Hormones". You will learn so much. I believe it will set you on the right path toward hormone balance and eventual weight loss. After reading his book, you need to find a highly reviewed and recommended integrative/holistic/functional medicine MD or DO who thoroughly understands how to prescribe bio identical hormones that are transdermal(patch or cream)...NEVER oral, as you will read in Dr. Platt's book. According to Dr Platt, Estrogen is VERY conservatively used if at all and ONLY transdermal at the lowest dose. I am only on progesterone cream 300mg daily to manage perimenopause. Also, absolutely read on this website about Estrogen dominance, How to use progesterone, what to expect if starting progesterone therapy, etc.. It is imperative that you educate yourself about treatment with bioidentical progesterone cream and what to expect. Keep us posted on your progress. Blessings, Diane
