Reading Test Results

Dear Wray

I am hoping that you can help me understand my blood spot test results.

I did this new blood spot test with ZRT labs (it is different than a blood serum test) instead of doing saliva. This is the test that is for people who have problems producing enough saliva in the morning.

Since I did this on my own instead of using my doctor who does not believe in Saliva etc I wonder if you could interpret my results for me.

Thank you Wray or anyone else out there who can assist, I greatly appreciate it.

Estradiol 71 pg/ml
Progesterone 18 ng/ml
Testosterone 34 ng/dl

ratio 254

I do not know if this is good or not, as I am confused about the pg/ng/dl

Thank you once again

Letitia

Reading Test Results
by: Wray

Hi Letitia The ratio you've been given is correct, it is 254:1. In blood tests oestrogen is measure in pg but progesterone in ng. A pg is a 1000 times smaller than a ng, so the oestrogen result has to be divided by 1000 to bring it to ng. Then that result can be divided into the progesterone result, giving you the ratio between the two. We've found from Saliva Tests we run that it's better if the ratio is 600:1 and over, although some women can do well on a lower ratio. I prefer to go by symptoms, a test will only give the level, it cannot tell anyone how we are feeling. So how are you feeling? Well? Take care Wray

Answer to Wray
by: Letitia

Thank you Wray for answering me

I am not feeling well, I am not feeling anything
Neither female or male just completely flat and no energy. For this first time in my life and I am 58 I would call myself lazy.

I at first thought I was just getting used to less anxiety with using more progesterone but this has been going on with me since May of 2014
I have also added about 15 pounds and cannot move it
A good physciatrist would say depression, I know depression and this is not that.
Low testosterone I do not know how to read the result I listed on that one.
Any input to assist me would be appreciated Wray
thanks
Letitia

Heading in the right direction
by: Letitia

Wray

Does this mean I am heading in the right direction with my hormones??????????????
I read a lot of issues, which I have also had, but it it also nice to know, if true, that it is all worth while and we are heading in the right direction or not, if we need to make adjustments and some common sense input in that area
What I am sensing from my results, I need some testororone , now or do I need dhea which converts to testorone

HELP Wray

Heading in the right direction
by: Wray

Hi Letitia No one can tell you if you are heading in the right direction unless you have a before and after test result. I wish I could help you further, but I don't have enough time, you'll find all your queries answered on our pages. For instance have a look at our page on Hormone Testing for the normal range for testosterone. Take care Wray
