Questions relating to Progesterone and breast growth

by MV
(Dubai)

I am a 21 year old girl and think I have Progesterone Deficiency. I came across your website and thought I should write to you so you could clear some of my doubts. I have some of the following symptoms that cause me to think so which are as follows:

1) Excessive hair growth on the body and face
2) Oily scalp
3) Breast underdevelopment (I am only a cup size A)
4) More body weight on the lower half (I tend to put on weight only on my hips, thighs and buttocks but am very skinny on the top half of my torso)

Do these signs state that I have the deficiency? I heard that progesterone can help in breast development. Is that true?

Your help would be appreciated.

Questions relating to Progesterone and breast growth
by: Wray

Hi MV. It sounds as if you could possibly have PCO (poly cystic ovaries). We do have a web page you might like to read.

PCO is caused by malfunctioning gonads, principally because of high insulin and high androgens. The high androgens cause the excess hair, they will also suppress breast growth. Progesterone has no bearing on the development of the breasts as it's not a sex hormone. But it does suppress excess androgens. You might like to do the questionnaire we have to see if you do need progesterone, it's in the right margin of this page. Take care, Wray

Breast growth
by: Pandora

Hello MV, I too am confused about the use of Progesterone. I have been taking a combination of Estrogen and Progesterone for about 3 years and my breasts have grown 3 cup sizes! I find this quite disturbing and no-one can give me an answer as to how to reduce my breast size without surgery. One doctor told me to take diuretics which would supposedley get rid of the fluid... but with low blood pressure, I get dizzy. I feel I am doomed to carting around DD breasts forever!

Breast growth

Hi Pandora. Your breasts have grown 3 cup sizes because you're also using oestrogen. Please cut this out and use only the progesterone. I think you'll find they will reduce back to their normal size. Oestrogen and only oestrogen causes cells to multiply, hence the breast growth. Take care, Wray

progesterone and breast enlargment

I have been taking just progesterone for about a year and a half now for menopausal symptoms. I have noticed and big increase in my breasts (which I'm not happy about). If I stop the progesterone, will my breasts return to normal??
