My progesterone level was 21 on the 21st day

by Lunyai
(Illinois)

I have PCOS and have been TTC for the past 3 years. I had my menses on Aug 19 that lasted for 11 days, ended on Aug 30th. Then, I had spotting 7 days after my menses for 3 days.

My ob-gyn recommended taking a progesterone level on the 21 st day from the first day of spotting which was on Sept 6. I took the test on 27th and it read 21. What does that mean?

Hi Lunyai At least your test was done at the right time, that's assuming you have a 28 day cycle. If you had a blood test, the follicular progesterone would read <1 ng/ml, and the luteal, which is when you had it done, ranges from 5 to 20 ng/ml, see Medline Progesterone. This would indicate you had ovulated. We do have a page on PCOS and another on Pregnancy. Please read through these, as it will give you an idea of how to reverse the PCOS naturally. Please have a vitamin D test done, for more info see the Vitamin D Council, GrassrootsHealth Birmingham Hospital and Vitamin D Links websites. Vitamin D is essential for normal functioning ovaries, for ovulation and pregnancy, see here, here, here, here and here. These are excellent videos to watch too, see here and here. Take care Wray
