High serum pregnenolone and progesterone

by J
(TN)

I'm a 58 yo man and have always been healthy. But I'm starting to feel the years. I've used pregnenolone for the last two years and tried progesterone last summer. The progesterone was great, but I had some other issues and quit.

I had a lot of lab work done recently and most everything was fine.

But pregnenolone was

307ng/dL (reference range <151)

Progesterone was

1.4ng/mL (reference range 0.1-0.8)

I'd like to start the progesterone again since it made me feel great, but don't know what to make of these lab results.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Hi J Neither hormone is dangerous, so I don't think you should have any concerns about the higher than normal level. This is almost always the case if using supplemental hormones. If you wish to start the progesterone again, I suggest you do it concurrently with the pregnenolone, but reduce this slowly. Cold turkey is not dangerous but often there's an adverse side effect. I have no idea what the symptoms could be so can't advise on that. I've found
Ray Peat is always a good read. These are two other pages you could look through here and here Take care Wray
