Headaches

by Jayne

Hi. Low dose progesterone I'm OK with, but it's not solving all my symptoms, so I upped my dose to 150mg 10 day's ago and since then I'm getting lots of headaches. Should I drop back down? Drop a bit down??? Like I say, no headaches at lower dose but not full symptom relief e.g pms.

Headaches

Hi Jayne

Gosh there are so many posts about Headaches on this website. If you use the search bar you can read up on them all.

You did the right thing by increasing the amount of progesterone cream. Using a 3% cream between 100-200mg is needed as you have most probably read. The low dose, whatever that was, will aggravate your estrogen receptors which explains why you are not benefited from progesterone therapy.

If you get headaches with the progesterone, this would be explained by the estrogen stimulating affect it has.
Headaches are a common symptom when suffering from Estrogen Dominance. You also need to give the increased amount a chance to work. It is not an overnight fix. It can take 2-6 months before the body adjusts to progesterone therapy. You may even need to use more cream, it depends how severe your symptoms are. This is something that you will have to experiment with. There are also a number of other reasons why one gets headaches as the page suggests. Try rubbing some cream at the back of your neck and up the sides of your temples. That should help to ease the pain as progesterone is an excellent anti-inflammatory.

In case you haven't read, progesterone must be used no less than twice a day. Please read the How to Use Progesterone Cream page for more information on this.

What is your Vitamin D3 level? A deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone.

Iodine
by: Anonymous

I see your recommendation to take 5 percent iodine drops. Isn't this a toxic level? The 2 percent has almost triple for the daily requirements just in 1 drop. I can't find anything In the search bar for iodine. Please help

Iodine
by: Joy

Hi Anonymous

I can't find any evidence where 5% drops cause toxicity. If there is, I would like to read it. I have been using the 5% drops for 10 years now and have not experienced any issues. I started on 1 drop and worked my way up to 5 drops which suits me. Others may need less or perhaps the 2% is better for them. It did nothing for me.

If you view Dr David Brownstein's video he mentions a protocol to follow when taking iodine. Vitamin C, Selenium, and unrefined salt. I follow the protocol. The video pauses in places so stick with it. Dr Brownstein also has some excellent books on the thyroid and iodine. Tyrosine is also excellent for the thyroid, I take that too. Many do not take the protocol so that may cause issues.

PubMed is an excellent search engine and has so much information on the subject, you might like to search there.

If you are concerned may I suggest that you speak to your doctor about it. Hopefully he or she will know of it's benefits.

Take care.

Hot flashes
by: Anonymous

Hello, I have experimented with doses and am now up to 300. I'm vegan 43 years old and haven't had period for 3 months. I'm getting flashes through the day and night. Around 10-15. 300 mg for 2 weeks with some headaches. Should I go 400? It just seems such a high dose. I've been on the creme for 3 months now. Also, using this amount is not possible to go on 1 arm or 1 site for that matter. It's alot of creme. I don't want to use all the sites at once. I'm running out of areas to rotate. I'm just lost on what to do.

Hot Flashes
by: Joy

Hi Anonymous

Hot Flushes do not respond to anything less that 400-500mg per day. Use that amount until they clear then slowly reduce to an amount that suits you and your symptoms.

I can assure that it is not a high dose. Those suffering from severe PND or physios are given as much at 2400mg per day. TBI patients are given 1400mg per day. Use Natpro Progesterone Cream all over your body, please ignore advice suggesting that it is only to be used on the inner harms or soft skinned area. That is not true and one of many Progesterone Misconceptions. Even hair follicles absorb it. Are you inserting it in your vagina at night? This is the best place as it absorbs so well there. Also you can use progesterone as many times as suits you during the day. Experiment, see what suits you but never use it less than twice a day. Please read the How to use Progesterone cream page, link given on this thread.

What is your vitamin D3 level? This is important as a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone. Again, link given on this thread.
