Finding the right dose in MENOPAUSE

by Taffy

I feel uncertain about knowing how to find the ideal dose during menopause, and how to know when to increase or decrease over time? What symptoms should guide the woman in menopause using P cream daily?

Finding the right dose in MENOPAUSE

Hi Taffy

Usually between 100-200mg Natpro progesterone Cream is needed, more if symptoms are severe. Experiment to see what suits you best. You will know when to increase/decrease but never use less than 100mg per day. Please read the How to use Progesterone cream page. Use half the amount in the morning and the other half at night. I have found that when in Menopause and dealing with many menopausal women that 200mg is needed provided you have no adverse symptoms.

Make sure that your Vitamin D3 level is optimal as a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone. It is also connected to every single function cell in our bodies, making it vital.

Thank you, Joy. I am currently at 400mg, divided in 4 doses. I have a long history of E dominance. A recent test showed I still have this issue even tho E is low, P and T (and DHEA) are lower. I feel no ill effects from this dose and have lost some weight, pain improved. I just feel confused about how to decide when to increase or decrease the dose. Assume I won't need to stay at my current dose forever?

Hi Taffy

Thanks for getting back to me. 400mg is a good amount to use. It usually takes 2-6 months before the body adjusts to progesterone therapy. Such a pity that you didn't state your test results. The ratio between progesterone:estrogen should be around 600:1. You can work out your ratio as stated on the Hormone Testing page. So depending on what your ratio is will determine how long you need to continue on that amount.

Or listen to your body. If you feel stable enough, then slowly reduce the amount of progesterone used. Your body will soon tell you if you have reduced too soon.
