Daughter taking progesterone for pcos and feeling very emotional

by Rosa
(Salisbury, NB Canada)

My 17 year old daughter started taking natural progesterone for PCOS at 20mg a day in the evening.

She is feeling very emotional. Is this normal and will it go away?

More progesterone

Your daughter should be taking 100-200mg progesterone a day (divided and applied 2 times a day) and not only 20mg. The small dose is causing her to be in constant estrogen dominance as too little progesterone continues to trigger the estrogen receptors.

How is her blood sugar?

Hi Rosa As Nita says, she should be using 100-200mg/day, 5 to 10 times the amount. The 20mg merely ramps up her oestrogen, and will continue to do so. It must be used a minimum of twice a day too. We do have a page on PCOS, please read through it, as it gives info on how to use progesterone, foods to eat, and the nutrients needed to reverse the PCOS. A stable blood glucose is critical too, there's info on the link I've given. Take care Wray
