breastfeeding, hormones, and post partum anxiety

by Paige

I really just have some questions.. I have never used natural progesterone and actually never knew it even existed until recently upon research. I have struggled with anxiety most of my life, have been on and off antidepressants, and just had my second baby (I've had two in two years!)

I know that I've had a hormone imbalance in the past because I had acne and irregular periods with painful cramps. Both went away when I took the combined birth control pill and especially when I got pregnant the first time. I felt great mentally for most of the time during each pregnancy, I slept great, and my face was clear. However, after having my second baby (who is now 4 months), my anxiety is much worse. I've had issues sleeping and have just overall felt "off." My face went from dry during my third trimester to oily postpartum. I don't feel depressed, just anxious (and overwhelmed, but who wouldn't be with a toddler and a new baby?!).

My OB wanted to give me Zoloft but I instinctively feel like the problem is my hormones. I've recently begun a magnesium supplement to help me sleep but I'm not sure what else to do. Any advice?
