Hi Sonja Yes it is safe, in fact can help in several ways. The adrenals are stressed due to emotional and/or physical stress. Progesterone is a very calming hormone, as it activates the GABA receptor sites, GABA is one of the most calming neurotransmitters, see here, here and here. So this lessens the stress response of the adrenals. Cortisol, one of the stress hormones, is made from progesterone within the adrenal glands. If they are stressed, the adrenals can't make sufficient so rob other sources, notably the ovaries. This has an affect on the reproductive system, in fact stress can stop ovulation. If this stops, the ovaries do not produce progesterone. So a vicious cycle starts, and not only are the adrenals stressed, but so is the reproductive system. If you should consider using progesterone we do have more info on our pages How to use progesterone cream and Delivery systems. I recommend 100-200mg/day, but please read our page on Oestrogen Dominance first, as this can occur and is disconcerting if it does. Take care Wray
