Utrogestan natural progesterone?

by Aylin
(China, Beijing)

Hello,
My name is Aylin. I am from Romania and 29 years old. I am suffering of endometriosis and in the last 5 months I have been taking Utrogestan progesterone.

They say that is a natural progesterone but I would like to hear if is true or not... But since I take it (not continuously, just from day 11 to day 25 of my period cycle) it has had a very good effect in calming down the pains and it made me feel a normal woman. Also because no pains now I am not depressed and I have not all that bad feelings like before I started taking it.

I just want to know if this product is natural or not. It is made from some plants and they say is 100% natural. Anybody there know more about it ? If yes, please let me know and write me to aylin_yuky@yahoo.com (or post a comment on this page).

Thanks and good health to anybody !

I believe so

I'm not familiar with Utrogestan but if it's made from plants then it's "natural" which is what you want.

I do not know if it is natural but I know for sure that Prometrium is natural.

Yes, it's natural micronized progesterone

It's not a synthetic progestin. See the info on progesterone here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progesterone
http://www.besins-healthcare.com/Public/home.php?ID=16&IDsm=23&page=118
It's the same as Prometrium in the USA and Canada.

...or Microgest (generic prometrium)

Why would you not read the instructions that come with the drug?
I also take Utrogestan (I have been prescribed in Russia) for PMS, and it's amazing. It made a normal person. I lived so many years with debilitating hormonal problems and never knew the difference what other, healthy women, feel like. I thought everybody goes through this crazyness like I do every month. It also makes me calm and relaxed, and I don't have emotional or psychologic tension and irritability.

Hi there Thanks for your comment and the links. It is natural, mainly used in Europe, whereas Prometrium as you say, is used in the US and Canada. Progesterone also made me a normal person. You might be interested to read these papers on oral progesterone, here and here. And on transdermal progesterone here and here. Take care Wray

how to take it
by: Anonymous

My doctor said I should take it from day 16 to day 25, one 100mg dose vaginaly at night and one 100mg dose oraly in the morning. I never read anything similar to this on the net, so what do you think? I am taking it for regulating my periods and possible amenorea, upon shown deficiency of it on blood tests.

how to take it
by: Wray

Hi there Your instructions are very strange. The luteal phase lasts 12-14 days, progesterone should be used for it's entirety. The luteal phase always occurs in all women 12-14 days before bleeding. We have more info on our page How to use progesterone cream, plus our Menstruation page. The amount is good, but oral progesterone is the least effective Delivery system. Unfortunately using it in your vagina in the morning is not a good idea, as it leaks out. Presumably this is why you were told to take it. It would be better if you opened the cap and mixed the contents with a small amount of natural skin cream and rubbed it on your skin. Take care Wray
