hello, my wife tracey who was born in 1964, according to her medical records ,had her last menstrual period in 1997 at the age of 33.she has been plagued by ill health since the birth of our first child in 1987. she then mis-carried at 16 weeks, and our third and last child was born 10 weeks premature.she has been unable to return to work since the birth of our first child.she has seen specialist after specialist, and her chronic condition has always been attributed to Fibromyalgia, although it now appears to me after browsing your site, that it was initially thyroid disfunction mimicking hypothyroidism. she has put on 5 stone in weight over the years despite an excellent low carb diet.in 2009 her lab results came back confirming that she had hypothyroidism.
i believe from information on your site, that she was estrogen dominant, and have had a private saliva test done to establish the status of the progesterone/esradiol ratio.
the result was 'less than 2pg/mL' for progesterone, and 2 pg/mL for estradiol. i am confused as the ratio on the result sheet says progesterone/estradiol ratio is 1-0. can anybody make a comment on the ratio, as it seems odd that the figure zero is included in the calculation.
thanks pete

Ratios
by: Joy

Hi Pete

Well I am not surprised that you are confused at these ratios, I am too. Can you tell me which lab did the testing? Was 2009 the last time your wife had tests done? The Hormone Testing page maybe useful to you and your wife.

We are all suffering from Estrogen Dominance in varying degrees, including men. There are over 100 estrogen mimics in our environment today. Please read Our Stolen Future and Environmental Toxins. Progesterone supplementation is vital for better health.

Do you know what your wife’s Vitamin D level is as a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone? It is also connected to every single cell and its formation in our bodies, including fibromyalgia and thyroid – see here and here.

Your wife might like to look at the Ketogenic Diet which is a high fat/protein diet with NO carbs.

tracey's vitamin D level in 2009 was 19(uk ) and the last time it was measured was august 2013 and still deficient i.e. 39 (uk)

Hi Pete

We also use Genova Diagnostics, but the results seem very confusing. If you could please ask them to retest, or discuss with them the Hormone Testing page that I have given you, plus their recent results and see what they have to say.

Your wife's vitamin D level is still terribly low, she needs to get it up high as suggested on the Hormone Testing page.
