Combo Cream

by Marci
(New Mexico)

I was prescribed a progesterone cream with some added testosterone and dhea. My provider said to take it 6 days a week without regard to my menstrual cycle.

If I choose to only use the cream when I am not on my period will this cause too much fluctuation in the testosterone and DHEA?

Combo Cream

Hi Marci I'm very confused by your query. I don't understand why you have been told to use it 6 days a week, and not to follow your cycle. And to use it all month, but not when you bleed. Is this what you meant when you say 'use the cream when I am not on my period'? Progesterone should be used from ovulation for the 12-14 days of the luteal phase. Unless symptoms are severe, when it can be used daily through any bleeding to ensure progesterone becomes dominant, and oestrogen is suppressed. We do have more info on our page How to use progesterone cream. I don't believe any woman should be given DHEA and testosterone. DHEA increases oestrogen and testosterone, and with it an increased risk of cancer, see here, here, here and here. And testosterone increases the risk of visceral fat increasing, cancer and heart disease, see here, here, here, here, here here, here, here, here and here. Take care Wray

Thank you, Wray. I hate to say it but I don't think this nurse practitioner really knew what he was doing. I did saliva testing and was low on progesterone, testosterone and dhea which is why he did the combo cream (very small amounts of testosterone and dhea)

After I had gotten the cream I came home and found this website. Everything here made sense so it made me question his instructions. I think for now I will buy an over the counter progesterone cream and use it according to my cycle. (Which is what I meant when I said "when I am not on my period) I see a new holistic doctor in 3 weeks and will discuss it with him.

Thanks,
Marci
