Progesterone Cream usage when you do not have our period

by Melissa
(Lancaster,PA)

I have had a hysterectomy in 2006 but left the overies. Here it is 2011 and I am starting to get all the perimenopausal symptoms possible.

You talk about cycles but when is the best time to put the cream on when you no longer have your period? I am on an antidepressant, anxiety pill, magnesium, and a progesterone cream and I cannot seem to feel good. Help anyone!

Progesterone Cream usage when you do not have our period
by: Wray

Hi Melissa As you no longer have a cycle you can use the cream daily. You say you're using a progesterone cream, but evidently not sufficient. I recommend 100-200mg/day dependant on symptoms. For more info please see our page on Menopause. If you should consider increasing the progesterone, please read our page on Oestrogen Dominance first, as this can occur. Progesterone does help depression, so do a number of nutrients, all detailed on our Anxiety page. It could be your vitamin D level is too low, this also causes depression. For more info please see the Vitamin D council and GrassrootsHealth websites. Take care Wray
