Megase

When doing a search for appetite stimulant, the first result that pops up is this product called Megase... but after I found out that the product contains progesterone, I am hesitant to take it (I am dealing with weight issues, trying to gain weight).

I mean most bodybuilding forums talk about how estrogen is bad for someone trying to grow... Am I wrong on this?

Anyway, what I wanted to know is, will Megase raise the level of estrogen in my body, resulting in gyno (man-boobs)?

"Megace ES (megestrol acetate) oral suspension contains megestrol acetate, a synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring steroid hormone, progesterone."

Hi Mikael As the blurb you've written above says, it's a synthetic version of progesterone, not oestrogen. But all synthetic hormones come with adverse side affects. It contains megestrol acetate, and please see here for some of the adverse side affects. I would definitely avoid it! If you want to put on weight the best thing you could do is eat more protein, as the muscles are made of it. You need to avoid carbs, as any excess gets converted into fat. Also avoid the body building supplements, as most of them are sweetened with aspartame or acesulfame-k, unless you can find one that isn't.
