How helpful is progesterone?

by Prerna
(Mumbai, India)

I'm really scared about my approximately 4 week pregnency as I have once earlier suffered from missed abortion, where the foetus had no heartbeat after one and a half month and I had to go for a D&C. I am 32 years old. I would like to know, will using progesterone help me in keeping my embryo alive because this time too there's yet no heartbeat after 4 weeks?

How helpful is progesterone?

Hi Prerna. 4 weeks is too early to detect a heart beat, this is normally picked up from 6 ½ -7 weeks. Please see this web site. Progesterone is vital for a successful pregnancy, and supplementing can certainly help if progesterone levels are low, please see this web page. Take care, Wray
