Progesterone deficient

by Caroline
(South Africa)

Hi Wray, with the way I am feeling I really believe I am progesterone deficient, but here in South Africa the doctors believe in HRT tablets to solve the problem. I had a blood test done and thyroid is fine, but my hormones were very low... but which hormones it's not stated.

I read today about taking the herb Maca, and royal jelly tablets, along with folic acid to help regulate a female's photogene levels back to normal. What do you think?

Progesterone deficient

Hi Caroline. Strange they haven't given you which hormones are low! But in all probability they would only give you oestrogen and not progesterone. Maca, royal jelly and folic acid are all of benefit in various ways, but as for enhancing hormone production, no specific studies have been done on them. Maca is used for female hormone imbalance, menstrual irregularities, enhancing fertility and menopause symptoms, but no specific studies have been done. Although one study showed an increase in sexual desire in men taking maca. We do have a contact in South Africa if you wish to talk to someone, her name is Louise and her number is 031 764 6248. Take care, Wray
