Worried my Progesterone Level is so High

by Karen
(Phila)

Hi Wray, I went to a health food store and got a kit by Neuroscience to have my saliva progesterone, estrone and testosterone tested.

The test was performed on 8/3 at 8:30 a.m. I got my period the next day. My estrone level was 2.2 pg/ml, my progesterone was >4600 pg/ml and my testosterone was 52.8 pg/ml. Can you tell me if its ok that my progesterone was so high? I had started using the progesterone cream on July 31 but did not use it the day of the test so I would not throw off the numbers.

Thank you.

One day not enough
by: Anonymous

You need to be off the cream for at least a week before u test. the object of the test is the get a base line and then start the cream.
ZRT labs can help with free info about testing.

Also we do not know what dosage you were on or what the mg/per oz amount of the cream u were using. What would helpful.

TY
by: Karen

TY PB. I am using Natpro. I had started using 20 mg BID. I have since gone up to the 170 mg regardless of my test results. But I've had this lingering brain slowness, anxiety, esp in morning but still all day, and trouble with waking up too early. I was afraid it could partly from the cream but then I read about thyroid hormone resistance toopoopedtoparticipate.com/blog/dr-john-c-lowe-speaks/ and am goign to call to find out more about it.

No harm in a level that high
by: Wray

Hi Karen There's no harm in a level that high, particularly if you feel the progesterone is helping you. You might like to read this page here about progesterone levels. We've found from Saliva Tests we run that the ratio of progesterone to oestrogen should be 600:1 and over to feel well, yours is 2090:1. You don't say how much progesterone you're using, but there's little point in using too much, it just costs. So if you now feel stable on the amount you are using, I suggest you start cutting down a bit. Do this very slowly, and as soon as you feel symptoms come back, increase back up again. You'll soon find the level which suits best, without costing too much. Incidentally stopping the cream for only one day would not make much difference to the level. Take care Wray

ZRT lab speciman directions
by: Anna

I see that the saliva should be taken when not taking progesterone. This was not noted in the directions on the Saliva Test I just did with the ZRT lab. I was on my 2nd or 3rd week of taking progesterone. My results were high...1198.

From the reading I've done here I see that's not a concern but I am upset the lab did not tell me to wait until I took a break from the cream to do the test.

Or is that not important?

I'm only taking it to see if I can get more energy. I'm really not having any other symptoms being 65 and post menopause since 51.

I will continue taking it for the hidden benefits of better bones and heart health.
