When will it start working?

by Jacqui
(UK)

Hi Wray, i've been using Natpro for 3 weeks now. I am using a good teaspoon each day which I split for morning and night. I have had a hysterectomy and have one ovary so when in the month should I be using it as I think I still ovulate but have no periods to guide me?

So far I haven't seen any changes except I look tired, my hair's really greasy and I'm irritable!! When will it start working or is it not for me? I cannot really afford the cream but want to feel better as I have even had suicidal thoughts as well as lots of other symptoms like those you describe, so need it to work. PLEASE help, thank you.

Hang it there... I too was suicidal also and that didn't subside until my dose was up to 300-400mg day. You may not have your dose right yet. I can tell you, it does work at subsiding all the symptoms you described and I suspect your dose is too low to combat the severity of symptoms. I personally am on progesterone all month long due to the severe symptoms. I am 37 and still have a period. Hang in there!! Best wishes.

Hi Jacqui It does take time to work, in some women between 3-6 months. 3 weeks is too early to see, although in some women it does work quicker. But I've found in those with excess oestrogen it takes longer and they also get adverse symptoms such as you've described. For more info on this please see our page on Oestrogen Dominance. I wish this didn't occur, as it's very off putting and disconcerting too. Having had a hysterectomy it can be used daily, there's no need to follow a cycle. Some women take a break but it's not essential. If you've had suicidal thoughts please see our page on Anxiety. It gives a list of nutrients which can help. You are using a good amount if it's a 5ml teaspoon, this will give you about 200mg/day. I would suggesting increasing it for a bit, but as you say you can't afford it, this might be difficult for you.

As the comment below says... please hang in there. Take care Wray

Hi there Thanks for your words of encouragement, it makes such a difference to someone going through a tough time. You are right about increasing the amount too, although it costs more, in the long run it gets the oestrogen dominance phase over quicker. Take care Wray

Thanks for your advice Wray, i will keep going with it. I was about to order another tube of Natpro (uk) but there is a problem with customs apparently so in the meantime I have had to order a different cream. I have ordered Serenity and hope I have done the right thing as it was more expensive! I'm a bit worried because I do not have the money to throw away. Do you think I have done the right thing for the time being? Thank you and kind regards Jaqui.

Hi Jaqui We haven't had a problem with customs before, so I hope it resolves soon. The Serenity is about 58% the strength of the Natpro, so for the same amount of progesterone you will have to use more cream. Pity, as you say it is more expensive, but you've done the right thing. You don't want to stop cold turkey! Take care W
