unhappy in Sterling

(Sterling,IL,USA)

I have catamenial seizures as you call them and I've been on Lamictal for 3yrs and Topamax my medication works other than the day after or a day or two before my period and it bothers me I did better before I had my baby hes one now but I am very unhappy with my doctor during my pregnancy he was giving me some bad advice I didnt listen to. He didnt take me off of Topamax like he should so he is lucky everything went ok. He doesnt seem to get the picture of what kind of seizures I have he keeps moving around everything I say. I tried to switch lately but its hard to find a doctor who takes the medical card and that comes somewhat reccomended the ones I found said they either werent taking medical card patients or I had to have my doctors permission. I really want a different doctor.

Hi Jessica I can't help you with a different doctor, but have you thought about using progesterone, as this can help catemenial seizures, see here, here, here, here, here, here and here. It is always best to do it in conjunction with your doctor, but yours doesn't seem open to suggestion. So you might have to try it alone, as so many do. If you do, you would need at least 400-500mg/day initially, to prevent any oestrogen dominance. This can exacerbate seizures. Although not about seizures, but asthma, you might like to read these comments here. Asthma, seizures, heart palpitations, panic attacks all need high amounts of progesterone to prevent adverse symptoms occurring. We have more info about progesterone on our page How to use progesterone cream. Take care Wray
