Two miscarriages still trying

by Jenny Mangano
(New Jersey)

Having my first miscarriage at 12 weeks I felt like the doctors didn't really care, because it was so early in the pregnancy.

However, when I got pregnant again alomost a year later, they told me it was unlikely that I would misscarry again. At my first ultrasound app, no heartbeat. Miscarriage again at 14 weeks. They couldn't tell me how or why. I've been wondering ever since. My gut tells me progestrone levels and lack of vitamins and stressful lifestyle. My husband and I have a 7 year old already, so how come we can't keep a pregnancy now?

Hi Jenny 12 weeks is not early, most miscarriages occur in the first 6-8 weeks, the remainder in the following month, rarely later. If your doctors found nothing wrong physically, then the chances are it was a drop in progesterone levels causing the miscarriages. The stressful life you lead is undoubtedly the cause, as stress drops progesterone sharply. I had 5 miscarriages and looking back all were caused by a stressful event just prior to it occurring. We do have a web page on Pregnancy, please have a look through it. Take care Wray
