Stop progesterone early in pregnancy.

by Karen
(New York, New york)

Was on progesterone suppository at 4wks pregnant only 1 week for uterine lining support. Never was my progesterone level low. At 9 weeks I had a miscarriage.

My OBGYN said I had the miscarriage because of Subchronion hematoma. But could stopping progesterone at 4wk cause a miscarriage?

Stop progesterone early in pregnancy

Hi Karen

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It's difficult to say if the miscarriage happened because of chorionic hematoma. There are other reasons that could possibly cause them. Some of them are:

* Low progesterone levels
* Stopping progesterone to soon, as in your case. Progesterone therapy should be continued until pregnancy is assured and up until the fourth month, when the placenta will have taken over the manufacture of progesterone
* Stress
