Progesterone support IVF

by Fiona
(New York)

Hi,

I am due to start a minimal stimulation cycle of IVF next week (reduced medication). I have managed to find a compounding pharmacy that will put together natural progesterone (from wild yam)and probiotics in a suppository. The IVF clinic are happy for me to use this but recommend 400mg twice a day. When I spoke to the chemist she said that 800mg was unheard of. I am now worried in case this is too much.

I would appreciate your thoughts on these levels and what you think a suitable level may be. My issue is tubal, my hormones and everything seem to be good and I am healthy and 37 years old. I have had several failed natural cycles of IVF so I really want this one to work.

Thank you

HI Fiona Please check your vitamin D levels, as this could be the cause of the failed IVF cycles, see here and here. 800mg/day is not unheard of, and if the fertility clinic want you to use this amount, please do. Take care Wray
