Progesterone makes your body think it's pregnant

by Geri
(Galveston)

I had started Peri-menopause in my 30's. I went to my dr friend who put me on the pill AND premarin, at the same time. I mentioned to my dr friends wife I was using progesterone cream, and she said...Oh, don't do that, progesterone makes your body think it's pregnant. So I stopped. Now, 15 years later, I'm off all estrogen and self medicate with just progesterone. I feel better til I start to spot, then I stop progesterone for a few days.

Progesterone makes y body think it's pregnant
by: Joy

Hi Geri

How bizarre! I have been using progesterone for 14 years now and I have NEVER felt pregnant and my body certainly has indicated this. If only the study papers were read by these misinformed people, then so much of this misconception about progesterone would be avoided. What I do find unforgivable is being put on BCP and HRT at the same time, both have a potential to cause harm. Clearly they didn't know the answers!

Please read the Peri-Menopause page. Erratic periods are quite normal, why were you not informed of this? Please do not stop using progesterone, it is needed more than ever now as the page explains.
