Progesterone, irregular periods and water retention

by Jules
(London, UK)

I'm 47 years old and have been using Natpro for 6 months now. I initially started using Natpro to try and regulate my periods as they had started becoming at least a couple of weeks late and also to try and alleviate my water retention. The first time this happened I was 36 and the doctor put me on progesterone pills (synthetic) to try and regulate. It did the trick but I had horrendous side effects so I stopped taking.

So at 47 I read about natural progesterone. The benefit since using the cream is that I now no longer have sinus problems (I had this since I was 26 and had to use nasal sprays and antihistamines daily to try and control - this is the first year I haven't had to use either. In the past I also have had iritis, rhaynards syndrome, bruising and disturbed sleep which are all symptoms of low progesterone - the sleep is definitely better.

Since using the Natpro for the last 6 months(I have now increased in the last month to 3 pea sized amounts twice a day) my period is still every 6 to 7 weeks so has not regulated to my normal 4 week cycle, I have put on half a stone and the water retention hasn't gone.

Where do I go from here? I would have thought that everything would have settled by now, or does it take longer? Should I increase or decrease the amount I use?

I look forward to hearing from you as I'm really not sure what to do now.
